The Locanda Cipriani on Torcello
After trips to the islands of Murano (famous for its' glassworks) and Burano (where they made lace) we arrived at Torcello with its 12th Century cathedral. Here is the world famous Locanda Cipriani restaurant.
Away from the madding crowd many of the rich and famous have dined here preferring the tranquility of the island. Royalty, politicians, movies stars and novelists. At the rear of the restaurant is a modest courtyard where we were greeted with more wine, before seating down to our meal in part of the restaurant set aside for us overlooking the courtyard, gardens and church.
